BS American University,
Washington, DC 1975
MALS, Wesleyan University,
Middletown, CT 1983

Upon graduation from high school, Elaine Xenelis Fuller chose the larger university setting and a science degree, rather than studies in the arts. While working in hospitals and teaching at a nursing school, she began pottery classes at the Worcester Craft Center in 1978. Working with clay became an obsession so that she continued her studies at Wesleyan University under Mary Risley. She left her work in clay for 10 years to start a family.
Since her return to ceramics in 1993, she has established the pottery business, Handmade By Elaine in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, which she has now moved to studio and gallery location in Kittery, Maine.
Her chemistry background has allowed her to experiment with glazes for unique effects using an electric kiln. Inspired by nature and the exciting elements of clay, she produces elegant and creative pieces for exhibit throughout  the United States and abroad.
Her studies continue with workshops in this country, the United Kingdom and Greece. She is a charter member of the National Council of Ceramics Educators, the Potters Council, a member of Wesleyan Potters, Kittery Art Association and the New Hampshire Potters' Guild.
